He was a man who indicted white America in the harshest terms for its crimes against black Americans. Many accused him of preaching RACISM, BLACK SUPREMACY and ANTISEMITISM.........I ACCUSE HIM OF SPEAKING THE ULTIMATE TRUTH.

TODAY ALONE I HEARD 5 PPL SAY EVERY MONTH IS BLACK HISTORY......SHUT UP!! DAMN!! I'm not trying to overwhelm you with the MLK blast. My boo Octavious already hit you with his thoughts, but this is a blog with 4 very different individuals...so expect 3 more...or maybe just mine.

ANYwhoooo, today is a day that was made to honor the birthday and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. However, 2day also marks the anniversary of the holiday....25 years. That is truly a feat in history.

I was talking to my mommy the other day and she was showing me all of her buttons that she had collected back in the day...and I'm talkin' TRULY back in the day as in the 60s and 70s...black power ish, Malcolm X, and of course MLK. Me being a button fanatic, I wanted all of them to have...but the meaning of them all didn't hit me until she explained (however, she did end up giving me her 'FREE ANGELA' button #FTW!). One of the buttons she had was one that was created in the efforts to pass MLK Day as an actual holiday...Well look where we are now...HEY HEY HEY!!!

After thinking about it, it's amazing to me how much work it takes trying to get a holiday passed....but to get a holiday passed in honor of a BLACK MAN??.....almost unheard of (especially back then). I was going to treat this holiday like all of the other holidays and enjoy my day off of school/work by playing Sims on the computer and rocking out to some Guitar Hero because I'm cool like that...But due to recent events (such as having a black President, the Haiti disaster, & much more...good and bad), I feel the need to take the time to reflect on my blessings. I am truly a blessed individual...thanks to the Lord and for Him putting "heroes" here on this Earth. People may pick to find negativity in these individuals, but I refuse to shun a brotha, or a sista, who works his/her a$$ off for a change. Am I or you doing the same?...We still have things to work on...from the masses of our planet all the way to our communities. However, change doesn't come without effort. So for all you people who strive to find what is wrong with MLK (and other individuals who have worked for a change), pause to think about your blessings and your progress...which, in part, is due to the efforts of those same hardworkers you blast on. As for the minorities (and our caucasian supporters), we would not be where we are today without the effort of "the King". Take the time out (even if it's a few minutes), to appreciate the change....even though there is more to come...

Mafia, not the Wars

I ended my Thanksgiving break by spending time with "The Table" They are my friends from High School.

The name comes from the lunch room table we would meet at in the morning, lunch and in passing times.

Our group consists of 8-12 people (it depends on relationship management). We are an odd group because we are large in size and are not all best friends but something ties us together and I don't see us loosing contact... ever.

Without knowing, we organized our group beyond a click into some type of social order. We always look to plan events for The Table and we take into consideration "voting", researching and lobbying lol Yes it is as crazy as it sounds but this same group of people has been functioning like this for the past four years even though our personal lives have gone in different directions.

We will most likely be "The Table" when we are in our 30s, 40s and 50s.

(Above) Here we are in the Sleep session of our favorite intellectual social game called MAFIA It's a complicated game that promotes and hones the skills of lying, diversion, and whit.

This game can be seen in the horror movie CRY WOLF (Click here for the movie) Where private school students play a similar game where they have to find a killer amongst themselves. This game really does make you a well practiced liar and deceiver. I guess thats kinda bad hmm? But then again it also lets you practice reading people to find out who is lying. You should look it up and try it some time.

Yesterday Michael Jordan was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame. For the most part, everyone that had something to do with MJ’s career was in attendance. Teammates such as Scottie Pippen, Toni Kukoc, Steve Kerr and Dennis Rodman were there as well as former competitors including Isaiah Thomas, Charles Barkley, Coach Pat Riley and John Stockton (who was also inducted into the Hall of Fame). Yesterday was probably one of his most proud moments other then 6 championships. Congrads Mike, eventhough the game is not the same anymore without you there is still some NBA talent just not the same as your talent.

So I was sitting around chilling, when I started thinking about things that used to "fashionable" and kool back in the "day" (more like 4-5 years ago) lol. One thing that came to mind was Name Belt Buckles....remember these lol

If you remember those then you gotta remember these as well, this was the UPGRADE! lol.


So after looking those pics and laughing at that the memories of people rocking'em with other items such as dog tag chains and all white air force ones it got me thinking....Skip what were some funny things you used rock back in the early years of high school?? Well if you look below you'll get a peek at me in my gangster days, let the laughing ensue....lol.


Oh and to add to an already pretty bad pic, here is the "gangsta" version I made of it back in high school on GIMP! All my designers that used gimp before you could afford photoshop where you at.....??? LOL nvm...enjoy

Soulful Sample

So west coast artist Dom Kennedy has this super cool mixtape titled Future Streets/Drug Sounds (download HERE). A lot of dope songs reside there but the BEST one is actually an intermission. lol. "HellaGood Intermission" is one smooooth track. If you don't bob yo head to this, you have NO groove and you can jump off a bridge (don't kill your self, but just try to injure a few bones). ANYwhooo....this track is so soulful that I just knew that it had to be a sample. Magically (lol), the other day, Octavius let The Skipper listen to this track and the first thing he said was "That's a skating song." (The Skipper is an avid skater if ye'n know...not ice skating, not roller blading, but 4 WHEELS! CHYEA! Skate King BA-BY!!!) He immediately took us on a journey through YouTube (not really because he pulled up the vid with no problem) and showed us this skate video done here in St. Louis. Sure enough.....there was that soulful beat:

Now all I need for yall to do is let me know who actually did that original song!!! YES!! RESEARCH PARTY!!!

Music is Genius

Big fan of music right here!!...My friends as well. One of our fave things to do is look up the original songs in hip hop samples. It's amazing to see what the present day producers make out of these oldies. Ends up being some hot ish. (By the way...I believe that Kanye has this technique down!)...But do you ever think...wow...these music artists back in the day had no one to sample off of. They came up with these wonderful sounding concepts on their own! It's really amazing when you think about it. Much love and many props to the legends.

One of my favorite samples is "This Can't Be Life" on Jay-Z's album The Dynasty Roc La Familia. Of course, Kanye worked that out. =)
