Sewing Men's Accessories

Life is funny, I didn't realize until this week that I'm going to present my clothes in MY FIRST FASHION SHOW. and I won't be there! I have a conference in Texas (on the $hool's wallet). So a friend of mine offered to Represent my brand at the show.
I sent her the mood boards and style sheets so that she gets the look correct, which I'm sure she will do fine. My look is a hard one to mistake, hopefully you are starting to see my niche as well. I guess I'm going to do about 6 looks, and i wanted the majority of the models to have on bowties.

I usually make the REAL kind you have to tie but I know that every one doesn't like to put forth the effort, and because I won't be there to fix the Perfect-Imperfect knots I opted for the fixed bow-ties.

For my added aesthetic and style I used buttons instead of clips or hooks on the neck sizer. That definitely takes these bow-ties back in time. Go with me - - -> [Iamme Collective]

CREATIVE CHARITY

A MESSAGE FROM OUR FRIENDS AT WORK/PLAY:

"Ever since the catastrophe that hit the island of Haiti, Kevin & I decided we wanted to do more than just send off a donation to one of the many organizations out there. Instead, we designed a Hat for Haiti where it combines our design aesthetic along with the colors of Haiti & the use of denim. This isn't just some 'promotional item' crap...where after you purchase it, you feel bamboozled. In fact, not only will it be a dope ass hat that you can rock anytime, but ALL...let me repeat...ALL the proceeds will go to Wyclef's organization Yele for your purchase. Now that you have a little background, here's what we want from YOU: Long story short...we presented our idea to a few local BIG investors, but they were on some other stuff. So we decided to go directly to the people & get an accumulation of pre-order sales to front the costs. We have a well-known hat company that is willing to give us a break on the cost to make the hats. We just need people that want to rock something fresh & can put in a pre-order for their hats. The 5-panel hats are only $30."

HERE IS A SAMPLE PIC OF THE HAT....(just a lil' taste...fux wit it..)

Progression on Bag Game

So seeing as I have the all the movie channels and no regular cable channels bootleg) I had to watch bad girls the day after everyone #CharterOnDemand it wasn't as interesting as I wanted but it is always good to see breastess jumbling and fists flying.

Anyway I decided to "finish" my test duffle, I wanted to practice this shape out to see how it works and I learned alot.
The Fabric is great! , The Straps are too short and thick,
The piping is not just for decor it gives the bag shape [ thats why it's floppy and frumpy]
Add a zipper and a shoulder straps and "WE IN DURR"
The Actual product that will be used in the real world outside my Atelier will be constructed with greater detail, craftsmanship, and functionality. Continuous trial and error is how the best products get to the top of the market.

LV, Moncler, and Tanner goods are expensive because of the work and quality that goes into them, not the hype[beast].

GORGEOUS

Tavi Inspires

13-year-old fashion phenom Tavi has got my gears grinding again. I was cruising through her blog the other day and found a few of her fashion collages. I use to be big on collages....portraying my loves & wants through random a$$ art....Perfect thing for a random a$$ chick! Thanks to Tavi, I am about to get back to what I do. The walls of my room are about to turn into big random splatters of magazine pieces. My mama is going to complain, but at least I will feel good inside...and that's all that matters :)

Iamme Atelier

I have the goal of being a Menswear designer, and not just a person who tells other people what looks well, but I want to construct it myself. To get mens shirt and suit construction down I would have to be taught by a person who knows how to do it, or just cultivate my own skills.

Seeing as I'm in school right now for public relations, there is not much drafting and tailoring going on. So I've decided to start with the easy things and work my way up to the complexity of men's garments.
This is the Mannequin I bought today. If you have ever caught a glimpse of my home I have one wall that is blank, with my painting hanging in the middle. The reason things are positioned away from this wall is because I'm slowly building my mini-Atelier here. Hopefully you can see it taking shape. As for the dress on the mannequin its simply two pieces (one around the neck and titays, and one around the body). It once belonged to a friend but it was too tight so it's a stalemate, but for now it makes my living room look really cool until I start making dresses again. {Which will be very soon}
(Above) as you can see I choose a random body that was close to me, they all look the exact same, this secret spot I found is a gold mine for business owners. I will be back for my male mannequin soon.

I'm going to keep posting about my advancements in self teaching. to check out more of my work look at my site : [www.IammeCollective.com]

Octavius Gets Tatted

Another Monarch gets tatted. I'm the one that's actually tatted up "like the subway in Harlem" (according to Mr. Nesbitt), but now it looks as if Octavius is tryna get to my level. But I can't even lie....I think he surpassed it with this ONE tattoo he just got.

It took him awhile to come up with the concept, but that's how it's supposed to be when you are about to do something that sticks with you for life (unless you are rich and you can just remove it when you want to). But that's not what regular people do. We THINK! ANYwhoooo...you can't go wrong with having a tattoo connected to somone as special as a mother. Octavius found a quote on the back of his lovely mother's (the late, great Clotie Baker) obituary that had so much meaning. Add a little pizazz and you get an image...he picked a tree. A tree can represent "living". This went perfect with the quote...(SEE BELOW)...

(The Beginning)

(The End)

"Let us rejoice as we prepare for our journey of a rebirth".

Shout out to Self Inflicted Studios for a dope job well done....once again!

ACNE S/S 2010 Footwear

Here is a quick peek into Acne's recent shoe collection for Spring/Summer 2010 (for all collections, click HERE). These were my favorites out of all of them. However, check out those heels!! YOWZAS! I feel as if I would have to learn how to walk all over again....You think it's hard for a baby???....Think how hard it would be for a 22.5 year old who wears sneakers 85% of the time (but don't underestimate my walk in heels -wink-). As for the random leopard moccasins thrown in there....I just feel like I could blast yo a$$ with those on. :)

Visual Influence: Recycle and Reuse

I dont wacth much tv these days cause I'm usually on my laptop working on designs and stuff, but when I do watch, its usually this...

By now you're probably like "what the heck does law and order have anything to do with anything visually influencing??"...you're right it has nothing really lol but i just felt like giving a back story #shrug. Anywhoo while watching this show the commercials were playing and this commercial below for the tv show "Psych"

at first i was going to just post the video cause i thought it was funny and it had that old 1980's feel and i thought to myself this must be a spoof to an older song. So i did some digging and little did i know that this is actually just a recreation of a original song by "Hall and Oates" called "Private Eyes." Watch the vid and you'll see the videos are pretty much identitical in execution, ive always been a fan of the process of how things are made and what influences their creation...so with that i give you Private Eyes... POW POW! lol
