It's Official...I have to get the 7d

Ok so Canon is about to release the new 7d and I must say just from looking at the beta footage this is going to be quite a contender in the market of video-capable DSLR's. Pictured below is what it looks likes straight out of the box.

Now with a few accessories you can set up a mild to extreme rig for the camera that will basically give you everything you need for all of indie film endeavors.

Fixed Gear Sensation

If you have paid attention lately to recent cultural trends, one of the biggest and growing scenes had to be the cycling community. One of the most active sectors of the cycling scene is the fixed gear community or sometimes referred to as track bikes. 

Definition of a Fixed Gear Bike: “Fixie is short for “fixed gear,” meaning the rear wheel and the pedals are connected through a single gear anchored to the rear wheel.Unlike standard road bikes, there is no way to coast, there is only one gear and brakes are optional. Simply put, when the wheels are moving, the rider’s legs are moving.”

Besides the obvious health benefits of biking in general there other reasons people choose to ride fixies. 1. They are easier to maintain and in general are lighter weight then your average mountain bike. Some people choose to ride without brakes, its more so of a personal choice. Although it may be safer in a city like St.Louis to ride with one brake at least lol. There are other options  such as a single gear so that you can still coast, since a fixie will have you pushing a lot of energy, especially uphill.

Haight & Ashbury

I went to many great places while in San Francisco. However, I didn't hit my peak of excitement until I came upon the block of Haight & Ashbury. Look around...Hippie sightings EVERYWHERE! They chillin. They singin'. They foolin'. It's great. Even the houses have hippie colors. lol. But that's not why I was excited. Around Haight & Ashbury are blocks and blocks of dope stores. Of course there are the hippie stores thrown in there, but I fell into many stores with my type of style as well.

And you have MY spots *BIG smile*...

Got Love for Solemates

So J.Nichols is like our outside source or something...He's a honorary member of Made Monarchs (lol). Anywhoooo...he linked me to this vid of the ladies at SolematesChicago. Solemates is probably my favorite store in Chicago. It's a consignment sneaker and streetwear boutique. They cater to women well with the dope ish that I actually LIKE and the staff there are HELLA down-to-earth. We got love for em'. In the video, Autumn and Ashley discuss the sneaker movement from a female perspective.
